Week 44

November 1st

  • Plant leeks in cold frames

 

Week 45

November 2nd to November 8th

Sunday, November 2nd – Daylight Saving Time Ends

  • Plant short-day onions in cold frames

  • Remove stakes and trellises

  • Mulch carrots for winter use

  • Fertilize under deciduous trees and shrubs

  • Water trees and shrubs thoroughly if fall has been dry

  • Remove diseased plant debris from garden

 

Week 46

November 9th to November 15th

Tuesday, November 11th – Veterans Day

  • Apply lime and fertilizer according to soil test

  • Winterize garden tools

  • Mulch strawberries

  • Mulch thyme plants before winter

 

Week 47

November 16th to November 22nd

  • Turn compost

  • Mulch perennial beds

  • Harvest salad greens from high tunnel

  • Cut hardy chrysanthemums to 2 or 3 inches and mulch

 

Week 48

November 23 to November 29th

Thursday, November 27th – Thanksgiving Day

  • Fertilize houseplants

  • Mulch garlic

  • Store winter squash and gourds for winter

  • Harvest Brussels sprouts or overwinter in garden

  • Harvest fall parsnips

 

Week 49

November 30th
