While some people look for unique houseplants, some folks want to grow big.  There’s a wide (and tall) selection of massive houseplants to choose from.  Here are some of the “big” names on the houseplant scene right now.

Monstera

Thanks to bloggers and Instagram, monster deliciosa quickly rose to fame and supplanted its fellow monstrously popular rival, the fiddle leaf fig (below).  Before buying do some research as some varieties can grow to over 12 feet!

Croton

While it might sound like a salad topping, the colorful croton can grow to over 8 feet tall.  Chris, our accountant, has a pretty big specimen in his office.  Croton’s dramatic variegation can make a bold statement in any room … even an accounting office.

Dracaena Marginata

Dracaena is one of those plants that can come in many shapes and sizes.  It is a relatively slow grower with spiky leaves and a willow-like trunk.  Some specimens can top out at 8 feet.

Fiddle Leaf Fig

Bird of Paradise

Turn you home into a tropical paradise (I had to say it!) with this beautiful plant.  Looking amazing in a tight, tall planter, they can reach 7 feet tall.  They’ll also reward you with beautiful blooms which resemble their namesake.

Olive Tree

Grown in the Mediterranean for thousands of years, the olive tree is perhaps one of the most historically significant plants on earth.  From Noah and the dove, to Greek and Italian cuisine, to Popeye’s girlfriend, olives have been there in the background of history.  Thanks to dwarf varieties, you can grow them as an indoor tree that will get about 6 feet tall and even produce fruit.
